On 4th February, the Malta Financial Services Authority issued a document outlining its strategic approach towards AML and CFT supervision, including its implementation of a National AML/CFT Strategy, from a firm’s introduction into the sector (authorisation) through to its operation (supervision), using robust enforcement methods. The document explains how anti-money laundering and combating terrorist financing fits into the MFSA’s conduct and prudential supervisory framework and sets out principles that regulated firms are expected to observe.
